Location Malibu Lagoon State Beach

Join us for a beach day at Malibu Lagoon State Beach on Saturday, August 15th! This beach offers a variety of activities, including tide pooling, birdwatching, and swimming. We will head to the beach early in the morning to catch the low tide and search for sea life. The tide pools are typically rich in sea anemones, crabs, sea hares and the occasional sea star. Malibu Lagoon State Beach is also a tidal wetland that is home to many coastal sea birds that we can observe and identify. We will teach you how to identify coastal birds of California and how to use binoculars. Once the weather begins to warm up will head to the swimming side of the state beach and have a typical beach day. We will head back to Caltech campus around 1 pm.
