From ancient stone pathways in the Peruvian Andes to the dramatic volcanic landscapes of Iceland, two of the world’s most iconic multi-day treks offer vastly different but equally unforgettable experiences. The 4-day Inca Trail winds through cloud forests, alpine passes, and centuries-old Incan ruins, culminating at the breathtaking Machu Picchu. Meanwhile, Iceland’s Laugavegur Trail traverses a surreal landscape of colorful rhyolite mountains, black sand deserts, glaciers, and geothermal valleys. Lunch provided.
Join us on a camping and hiking trip to one of the most spectacular places in the world - Zion National Park. The steep cliffs, deep canyons and bright red colors make Zion something to be seen and experience in person. With two nights of camping and plenty of hiking available this trip is a great opportunity to explore.

Los Angeles recently convened a Charter Reform Commission to evaluate alternative methods for selecting its leaders. The Commission has recommended ranked-choice voting and an expansion of the City Council, with voters likely to weigh in on these reforms in November.
Join us for lunch to hear Claremont McKenna’s Evan Rosenman, Assistant Professor of Statistics, and Sarah Cannon, Associate Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science discuss their effort to develop a data-driven framework to evaluate proposed reforms, focusing on proportionality, racial representation, and electoral responsiveness.
Join us on the Caltech Y Korean cultural cuisine tour at Young Dong Tofu House (https://www.yelp.com/biz/young-dong-tofu-house-san-gabriel-2). The Caltech Y will subsidize the trip (only 15 minutes by car!) and arrange for trip leaders who know the cuisine well and can introduce it to the group. We’ll learn more about Korean culture while enjoying delicious Korean food!
